Info

This pair of Eurasian red squirrels have been photographed enjoying their lunch in Cairngorms National Park, north-east Scotland. There are said to be fewer than 140,000 Eurasian red squirrels left in the United Kingdom, and 75% of them live in Scotland. Red squirrels eat nuts, fruit, flowers, birds' eggs, insects and more. They'll feast on deer antlers for a calcium boost, and they love to eat seeds from conifer trees. It's estimated that one squirrel consumes seeds from about 20,000 cones each year. That's a lot for a creature who weighs about 330 grams.
