Info
This red fox is creeping up a fallen tree in the Black Forest. The spectacular mountain range covers 6,000 square kilometres in south-west Germany. The Black Forest, or Schwarzwald in German, gets its name from the density of evergreen trees that block most of the sunlight from reaching the forest floor. It is known for its cuckoo clocks and Black Forest gâteau, a chocolate sponge cake with a rich cherry filling, which originated from this region. This setting is also said to have inspired many of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, including ‘Hansel and Gretel’, ‘Rapunzel’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’.
