Info

If you take a bird's-eye view along the Adriatic coast in southern Italy, you’ll spot many coves and caves like this one, the Grotta della Poesia (Poetry’s Cave). It is part of the archaeological site of Roca, about a 30-minute drive from the city of Lecce. According to legend, this was a favourite swimming hole of a beautiful princess who attracted the attention of many poets. Today it's a popular spot for all water lovers. Inside the sinkhole, an underground cavern carries the clear waters out to sea, inviting brave swimmers and scuba divers towards the open Adriatic.
