A tunnel to the past
This evocative photo of a cypress-lined road was taken in Point Reyes National Seashore, a marine and coastal nature reserve in the US state of California. These Monterey cypress trees, planted around 1930, are one of the few species of tree which adapt well to the wind and ocean conditions of Point Reyes. The tree tunnel is one of many diverse landscapes, including marine habitats, grassland and wooded hills, which are protected by the park on California’s central coast.
