Looking down on Seven Sisters

We’re peering over the edge of Nohsngithiang Falls in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, north-east India, one of the wettest regions on Earth. Also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls, water here plunges from a height of 1,033 ft (315m) in seven sections, arranged side-by-side over limestone cliffs. They look compelling even from a distance, but you have to visit at the right time. This stunning waterfall is seasonal and only flows during the rainy season (June to September) so timing is everything. It’s also best visited at sunset, when the sun’s rays hit the torrents of water, creating beautiful rainbows.
