A beautiful groundcover

Scientifically known as cornus canadensis, the bunchberry is a dwarf variety of dogwood, native in North America, Greenland and Eastern Asia. It flourishes in moist and organically fertile soils and spreads through a network of underground stems. This woodland plant typically grows 10-22 centimetres tall and makes for a beautiful groundcover. The leaves emerge every spring, followed by showy flowers. Once the flowers are pollinated, clusters of berries appear, continuing the botanical fashion show on ground.
