The white-tailed deer is an interesting and significant animal from North America. They are herbivores and eat a range of plant materials, such as leaves, twigs and fruit. Doe care for their newborn fawns until they are old enough to survive on their own and are renowned for their maternal instincts. These deer contribute to the health of the ecosystem by regulating plant development and acting as prey for larger predators.
