Belvedere, Vienna, Austria
Our photo shows Belvedere, a historic complex in Austria’s capital city, consisting of two Baroque palaces, stables and an orangery, all in a park setting. Located on the south-eastern edge of the city centre, Belvedere is undoubtedly one of Vienna's most visited tourist destinations and an important historic site. Built as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy, Belvedere was constructed during a period when Vienna was both the imperial capital and home to the ruling Habsburg dynasty. The two Baroque palaces – the Lower (Unteres) Belvedere and the Upper (Oberes) Belvedere – are linked by the Belvedere Gardens, which are filled with extravagant sculptures.
